Tom Kennedy
Tom Kennedy, outside his bakery in Guildford where he works, in a break between preparing French stick and making cheese straws. Tom has been a baker for nearly half a century, from his apprenticeship in patisseries at the Grosvenor House at the age of sixteen, to a Mess Sergeant in the army in Egypt, to Harrods. His bread has flown high with Quantas and sailed far with Canberra. He has never taken a single day off sick in 49 years. “If everyone had worked as hard as me we’d still have an empire”. He lost the end of his finger in a bicycle accident when he was twelve.
